Stand Up Paddlingboarding has arrived in Prince Edward County and continues to grow each year.

Originating in Hawaii there is quite a history behind this water sport. SUP World Mag has a great article on the subject. Click here to view.

The equipment needed is pretty minimal compared to other water sports.

Board & Fins – come in all shapes and sizes depending on what type of paddling you prefer. There is the  option of a hard board or inflatable boards. Locally, OSTS is my source for good quality boards and equipment.

Paddle – a long and adjustable paddle with one side curved in to catch the water.

Leash – a coiled or straight attachment for the calf or ankle to keep you attached to the board in case you fall in.

PFD (Personal Flotation Device) – these come in different styles and colours. Choose what’s best for you. Transport Canada has a detailed description of what to look for. Click here.
